Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "E. & L. P. Norton & Co., Bennington, VT ."
This is the mark of Edward Norton and Luman Preston Norton, the son of Julius Norton, who worked together in the family pottery from 1861-1881 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 43-44).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Stylized Floral Bouquet. The floral is executed with bold and shiny cobalt. Stands 11 1/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. Two flat 1/4" flakes on the top of the spout on the left side, a dime-sized spot of chippage to the left of the decoration at the bottom (closeup), and some very light and scattered staining. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. Salt drip on the front in the making.
