Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "E. & L. P. Norton & Co., Bennington, VT ."
This is the mark of Edward Norton and Luman Preston Norton, the son of Julius Norton, who worked together in the family pottery from 1861-1881 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 43-44).
This beauty features a Stately Tall and Narrow Form, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Bird Perched Upon a Stylized Floral Bouquet. The little bird has that expression, "if you get any closer, I am flying off!" Stands 15 1/4" tall. Comes with a wooden stopper.
Excellent Condition. A stain to the right of the decoration. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
