Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Monumental 4 Gallon Jar made and impressed for the merchant, "E. W. Hale, Boston."
Hale was a grocer in Boston in the late 19th century.
The decoration indicates that this jar was made in the Norton Factory in Bennington around 1860.
This beauty features the Imposing Size, Advertising with Cobalt Wash on the Shoulder, and a Large Cobalt Floral Bouquet on the Front. There are leaves, blossoms, buds, tendrils, and dots in one great symphony. Stands 14 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Heavy chipping around the inner lid seating ring and light staining from use. That's it! No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
