Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this fantastic 6 Gallon Churn with Incised Bird on a Branch Decoration from New York or New England.

Dating to the early 19th century, this beauty features a Large Size, Narrow Form, an Incised Capacity Number, and and incised Bird on a Branch Decoration.  The bird is well detailed with bright and shiny cobalt fill.  It is 6" from the tip of the beak to the tip of the tail feathers.  Stands 22" tall.

I have matched it up with a color-coordinated and form fitting 6 gallon lid and an old dasher.

When researching the current price for a piece like this, I found no other example of a churn with incised Bird decoration from this region and period.

Excellent Condition.  Four chips on the rim (1/4" to 1"), a 1" hairline from the rim above the left handle, a faint and small Y-shaped surface ping below the decoration, and a 4" vertical hairline at the base that wraps under 3" from a 1/2" chip (closeup).  No cracks, stains, or restoration.
