Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful and uncommon 1 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "F. A. Gale, Galesville, N.Y."

This is the work of Frederick A. Gale who ran the Lewis pottery in Galesville from 1860-1865.  The pottery was founded by Otto V. Lewis in 1852 and, after financial problems, became the property of Gale, a local business who ran the pottery with itinerant potters (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 68).

This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Tulip.  The tulip has 7 leaves and a blossom with 6 petals.  Stands 11 1/4" tall.

Excellent Condition. A shallow 3/8" chip on one side of the handle, a 1/4" chip to the right of the flower, and three narrow chips at the base (1/4" to 1/2").  That's it!   No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
