Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Stoneware Jug with Parrot on a Plume made and stamped by "Frank B. Norton & Co., Worcester, Mass."
This is the mark of Frank Norton and Frederick Hancock who operated the pottery in Worcester using this stamp from 1858-1877 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 52-53).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and Bright Parrot on a Plume Decoration. This was one of Norton's signature decorations and is typically found with gorgeous cobalt like this jug exhibits. In addition, the parrot sports a dotted back and tail feathers. Stands 15 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 1/4" chip inside the spout and a 3/4" chip on the right side of the spout. That's it! No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A salt drip on the parrot in the making.
