Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Preserve Jar made and stamped by "F. B. Norton & Co., Worcester, Mass."

This is the mark of Frank Norton and Frederick Hancock who operated the pottery in Worcester using this stamp from 1858-1877 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 52-53).

This beauty features a Rounded Rim, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and Brushed Cobalt Double Plume Decoration.  This was one of Norton's signature decorations and is typically found with gorgeous cobalt like this jar exhibits.  Stands 10 1/4" tall.

Excellent Condition.  A narrow 3/8" chip on the back edge, possibly in the making.  That's it!  No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  Exceptionally clean.
