Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Bowl made and stamped by "F. H. Cowden, Harrisburg."
This is the mark of John Wallace Cowden who ran the company with this stamp from 1880-1888 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 55-58).
This beauty features an Uncommon Bowl Form, Larger Size, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Stenciled Snowflake in Bright Cobalt Blue. Measures 6 1/4" tall and 12" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. A 3/8" chip on the front bottom edge. That's it! No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Typical manufacturing imperfections: kiln touch on the bottom of the snowflake and surface drying lines by the rear handlel terminals.
