Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "F. B. Norton, Worcester, Mass."
This is the mark of Frank Norton who operated the pottery in Worcester from 1858 to 1877 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 52-53).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Large Brushed Cobalt Swirl Floral Decoration. This is one of Norton's signature decorations and the bright cobalt that you come to expect from the Norton Pottery. Stands 15 1/4" tall.
Good Condition. Chips on the right side of the spout, small chips on the right side of the shoulder, and staining from use. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
