    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this early 2 Gallon Ovoid Jar Made and Stamped by "Goodwin & Webster."

     

    This is the work of Horace Goodwin and Mack Webster who ran the pottery in Hartford, Connecticut from 1831-1840 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 60-61).

     

    This beauty features the Early Ovoid Form with Straight Rim and Handles Up Near the Top, Rounded Sides, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and Additional Cobalt on the Handle Terminals.  Stands 11 3/4" tall.

     

    Excellent Condition.  Some water glass staining inside and some traces outside, a couple minor nicks and a 3/4" chip on the rim, and a half-dozen minor chips on the base (1/8" to 1/4").  No inner rim chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
