Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this early 1 Gallon Ovoid Jar made and stamped by "Goodwin & Webster."
This is the work of Horace Goodwin and Mack Webster who ran the pottery in Hartford, Connecticut from 1831-1840 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 60-61).
This beauty features the Early Ovoid Form with Tooled Rim and Shoulder, Applied Handles Up Near the Top, Pottery Stamp, and Additional Cobalt on the Handle Terminals. Stands 9 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. Some exfoliation inside at the bottom, a 3/8" flake inside and a minor 1/8" nibble outside the rim, and a 3/8" chip on the front of the left handle. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
