Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this 1 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "H. N. Ballard, Burlington, VT. 
 
This is the product of Hiram N. Ballard who ran the family pottery in Burlington using this mark for just the year 1855 (William C. Ketchum, American Stoneware, pp. 45-46). 
 
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Double Brushed Cobalt Floral Decoration.  Stands 10 1/4 tall. 
 
Good Condition.  A hairline through the middle of the handle, and a drilled hole in the back at the bottom from being a lamp.  No spout or base chips, body hairlines or cracks, stains, or restoration.
