Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 6 Gallon Stoneware Jar made by Hamilton and Jones, Greensboro, PA."
This is the work of Frank Hamilton and John Jones who worked in Greensboro, PA from 1865 to 1897 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).
Circa 1880, this beauty features the Capacity Number "6" Framed by Leaves at the Top and the Company Advertising in an Elaborate Stenciled Design Filling the Front. The company advertising surrrounds an arch of alternating up and down triangles and two large leaves, The advertising is itself framed top and bottom by large leaves. A lot of precision cuts on this stencil. Stands 17" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 1/2" chip inside the rim. That's it! Otherwise as made.
