Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this 6 Gallon Stoneware Jar made by "Hamilton and Jones, Greensboro, PA."
This is the work of Frank Hamilton and John Jones who worked in Greensboro, Pennsylvania from 1865 to 1897 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).
Circa 1880, this beauty features Two Broad Straight Stripes and a Wavy Stripe at the Top, the Company Advertising Accented by Leaves in the Middle, and the Capacity Number Framed by Leaves and Underscored by another Broad Straight Stripe. Stands 17" tall.
Good Condition. Two interconnected tight X-shaped hairlines on the left front to left side. These are about half visible inside. No rim or base chips, stains, or restoration. The cobalt has oxidized in the making.
