Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this fantastic 2 Gallon Stoneware Butter Crock made by "Hamilton and Jones, Greensboro, PA."
This is the work of Frank Hamilton and John Jones who worked in Greensboro, Pennsylvania from 1865 to 1897 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).
Circa 1880, this beauty features a Larger Size, Grooved Rim for Ease of Tying a Cover Over the Top, Applied Handles with Cobalt Accents, Top and Bottom Stripes, the Company Advertising framed by Fancy Dividers, the Freehand Capacity Number flanked by Six Dashes. Measures 7 1/2" tall and 10 1/2" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. A 2" vertical surface craze line behind the left handle. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration as shown.
