    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Jar made by Hamilton and Jones, Greensboro, PA." 

     

    This is the work of Frank Hamilton and John Jones who worked in Greensboro, PA from 1865 to 1897 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157). 

     

    Circa 1880, this beauty features a Tooled Rim, Three Stripes at the Top, the Company Advertising in the Middle Surrounding the Capacity Number, and Two Stripes at the Bottom.  Stands 12" tall.  

     

    Excellent Condition.  Two 1/2" chips at the base/underside and some surface wear from use.  That's it!  No riim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.   A 1 1/2" drying/firing line on the back bottom in the making (closeup).
