Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this spectacular 12 Gallon Jar made by by "Hamilton & Jones, Greensboro, PA."

This is the work of Frank Hamilton and John Jones who worked in Greensboro, PA from 1865 to 1897 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).

Circa 1875, this beauty sports a Large Size, Tooled Rim and Shoulder, Applied Handles, and Top to Bottom Decoration.  From the top down are a straight stripe under the rim, a straight and a wavy line at the shoulder, an undulating vine with three fuchsia blossoms on the top, the company advertising framing a floral in the middle and itself framed by sheaves of wheat on top and towers of dashes on each side, and the capacity number at the bottom framed by tornatos and underscored by a straight and a wavy line.   All the decoration is complete and crisp.  Stands 22" tall.

Having done considerable research I found very few 12 gallons by this maker have ever sold.  I sold one 10 years ago for $5,200 and that was the last one I have had.

Excellent Condition.  A 3/4" chip on the right handle terminal, a faint 7" hairline on the bottom that comes up 1" on the front in the bottom stripe (closeup), and some scattered glaze wear.  That's it!  No rim or base chips, cracks, stains, or restoration. What looks like a chip on the front rim is in the making and glazed over.
