    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this fantastic 3 Gallon Stoneware Jar made by "Hamilton and Jones, Greensboro, PA."

     

    This is the work of Frank Hamilton and John Jones who worked in Greensboro, Pennsylvania from 1865 to 1897 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).

     

    Circa 1880, this beauty features Two Stripes at the Top, the Company Advertising in a Circle Surrounding a Center Garland and Floral in the Middle, and Freehand Capacity Number Flanked by Three Dashes and Underscored by a Stripe at the Bottom.  Light gray glaze and darker cobalt for an eye-pleasing contrast.  Stands 13 1/2" tall. 

     

    Excellent Condition. A couple stain runs to the left of the decoration and a 1" chip on the underside at the edge.  That's it! No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
