Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Stoneware Jar made by Hamilton and Jones, Greensboro, PA." 
 
This is the work of Frank Hamilton and John Jones who worked in Greensboro, PA from 1865 to 1897 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157). 
 
Circa 1880, this beauty features a Tooled Rim and Shoulder decorated with Three Stripes, the Company Advertising Surrounding a Bell-Shaped Floral, and the Capacity Number Flanked by Leaves and Underscored with a Stripe at the Bottom.  Stands 13 1/2" tall.  
 
Very Good Condition.  A 2" chip on the rim on the right side, and chips along the edge of the right handle. No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Slightly out-of-round in the making and rocks slightly when first put down.
