Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Butter Crock made by Hamilton and Jones, Greensboro, PA."
This is the work of Frank Hamilton and John Jones who worked in Greensboro, PA from 1865 to 1897 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).
Circa 1880, this beauty features a Tooled Rim with Groove for Ease of Tying a Cover over the Top, and the Company Advertising in an Arch Surrounding a Floral Sprig. Measures 7" tall and 8" wide across the top.
Very Good Condition. Some traces of water glass staining inside, a 1/4" chip inside the rim, and a 3/8" drilled hole in the bottom center (once a planter). No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, outer stains, or restoration.
