Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Jar made by "Hamilton and Jones, Greensboro, Greene Co., PA."
This is the work of Frank Hamilton and John Jones who worked in Greensboro, Pennsylvania from 1865 to 1897 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).
Circa 1880, this beauty features a Tooled Rim with Groove for Ease of Tying a Cover over the Top, Two Cobalt Stripes accenting the Rim, the Company Advertising in an Arch Surrounding Three Five-Pointed Stars, and a Bottom Stripe. Stands 10" tall.
Very Good Condition. A 1/2" hairline confined to the rim on the right side (closeup). and some light staining from use. No chips, cracks, or restoration.
