Item 10664
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this superb 4 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "Haxstun, Ottman & Co., Fort Edward, N.Y."
This is the stamp of Andrew K. Haxstun and William and Gilbert Ottman who ran the company from 1867-1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 68).
This beauty is a Larger Size with Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Large Double Bird Decoration in Brilliant Cobalt Blue. The larger canvas of a four gallon crock allowed the artist to really create a imposing version of this decoration. A skilled hand executed this pair as they perch on their respective branches. Measures 11 1/2" tall and 12" across the top.
Excellent Condition. Residual water glass staining inside and some traces outside, a 1/2" chip on the right handle, and minor 1/8" nibble on the base. That's it! No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
