    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare 2 Gallon Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "Lewis, Huntington." 

     

    This is the  mark of Henry Lewis who made pottery in Huntington, Long Island from 1829-1854  (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 63-65). 

     

    This beauty features an Ovoid Form, Pottery Stamp and Capacity Number with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Garland.  Stands 12 3/4" tall.  

     

    Very Good Condition.  A 3/4" chip on the spout and a 5 1/2" horizontal line on the front near the bottom that may or may not be a firing line in the making.  No base chips, cracks, stains, or restoration.
