Item 8512
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Large, Tall 4 Gallon Jar attributed to Henry Remmey, Jr. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Henry Remmey, Jr. ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1820's to the 1850's (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).
Dating about 1840, this beauty features a Tall Form, Rounded Rim, Tooled Shoulder, and Three Brushed Cobalt Double Tulip Decorations around the Middle. Each tulip boasts a thick base of leaves from which two blossoms emerge. Bold Cobalt. Stands 16 1/2" tall.
It is large enough to work well as an umbrella stand or tall vase in a corner. The largest Henry Remmey jar that I have ever seen.
Excellent Condition. Professional restoration for a 1/4" drilled hole at the base where there is some staining from once being a lamp (closeup). Otherwise as made.
