Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Ovoid Script Jug made by "Hormell & Smyth."
 
This is the mark of Nelson G. Hormell and William Smyth who made pottery in Newport, Tuscarawas County, Ohio in the 1870's (F. Robert Treichler, A History of Northeast Ohio Stoneware, p. 108).
 
This beauty features an Ovoid Shape and the Potters' Names in Large Cobalt Script. Stands 12 3/4" tall.
 
Excellent Condition.  Some scattered light staining. That's it!  No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. A 1/4" drying line on the handle base in the making.
