Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Ovoid Cream Pot made and stamped by "I. Seymour, Troy."
This is the work of the pottery of Israel Seymour in Troy New York. He worked from at least 1816 to 1852. This mark was used between 1830 and 1852 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 66).
This beauty sports an Early Ovoid Form, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Large Freehand Brushed Cobalt Tulip. Stands 9 1/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. A nibble and a 3/8" chip inside the rim, five chips outside the rim mainly in the back (1/8" to 3/8"), and a narrow 1/4" chip under the left handle. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Exceptionally clean glaze.
