Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 9 1/2" Stovepipe Wax Sealer made by "Excelsior Works, Isaac Hewitt, Rices Landing, PA"
Hewitt ran his pottery in Rices Landing, PA in the 1860's and 1870's (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 158-59).
This beauty has the Cylindrical Stovepipe Form with Tooled Wax Sealer Grooved Rim, and the Company Advertising Stenciled in a Diagonal Halfway Around the Jar. Stands 9 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. A minor nibble on the inner rim, ten small chips around the inside of the top rim (1/4" or less), and two chips outside the rim (1/8", 3/8"). No base chips, hairlines cracks, stains, or restoration.
