    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Gallon Wax Sealer made by "Excelsior Works, Isaac Hewitt, Rices Landing, PA"

     

    Hewitt ran his pottery in Rices Landing, PA in the 1860's and 1870's (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 158-59). 

     

    This beauty has the Wax Sealer Form with a Tooled Grooved Rim, and the Company Advertising Stenciled in Bold Cobalt in a Diagonal Halfway Around the Jar.   Stands 10 1/2" tall.

     

    Good Condition.  A half dozen chips on the inner rim (1/4" or less) and chips all around the inside of the outer rim.  A 1/2" chip on the underside at the edge.  An in-body vertical hairline beginning below the rim and ending near the base (closeup).  No outer rim chips, cracks, or restoration.
