Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "J. A. and C. W. Underwood, Fort Edward, N.Y."  
 
This duo ran the pottery in Fort Edward from 1865 to 1867 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 88).  
 
This beauty features a Small 1 Gallon Size, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Cobalt Bird on a Branch Decoration.  Bright cobalt on a light gray glaze.  Measures 11 1/4" tall.
 
Excellent Condition.   A 1/2" chip on the bottom edge.  That's it!  No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  A 1/4" clay void on the right side in the making.
