    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Stoneware Crock made and stamped by "J. Burger, Jr., Rochester, N.Y."

     

    This is the work of John Burger, Jr. who ran the pottery in Rochester from 1880-1890 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 74).

     

    This beauty features a Freehand Capacity Number, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and an Unusual Foliate Decoration.  The decoration has six accented leaves and a Frilly Blossom.  Measures 10 1/4" tall and 11 1/4" wide across the top.  

     

    Very Good Condition.  A tight 5" vertical hairline on the back at the bottom that wraps under 3" (closeup), and some scattered light staining.  No chips or restoration.
