Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "J. Burger, Jr., Rochester, N.Y."
This is the work of John Burger, Jr. who ran the pottery in Rochester from 1880-1890 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 74).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Daisy created with a Slip Cup. The flower has 4 leaves and a blossom with 7 petals-- all with detailed accent stripes. Stands 14" tall.
Very Good Condition. A flat 1/4" flake on top of the spout, a few scattered surface craze lines, and some staining from use. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
