Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "J. Burger, Jr., Rochester, N.Y."
This is the work of John Burger, Jr. who ran the pottery in Rochester from 1880-1890 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 74).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and an Unusual Flower created with a Slip Cup. The flower has 4 leaves and a blossom with 3 petals-- all with detailed accent stripes. Stands 13 1/4"
Good Condition. A 1/4" chip on the front and a chip along the left side of the spout (closeup), and a 1" chip on the underside at the edge. No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
