    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Merchant Jug made for "J. C. Brophy, Liquor Dealer, Waterloo, N.Y."

     

    This beauty was  made and stamped by "F. Ohmann, Lyons, N.Y."  Frederick Ohmann was an employee of Jacob Fisher's pottery in Lyons and went independent in 1897 only to be burned out in 1898 and return to Fisher's employ (William C. Ketchum, Jr., Potters and Potteries of New York Stated, 1650-1900, 2nd ed., p. 367).

     

    This beauty features a Warm Salt Glaze, Pottery Stamp, and Four Lines of Cobalt Script Advertising.  Stands 11" tall.

     

    Excellent Condition.  Two narrow nibbles on the edge of the spout on the right side (closeup).  That's it!  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
