Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this early 2 Gallon Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "J. Duntze, Manufact'r, N. Haven, CT."
This is the work of John Duntze who potted in New Haven from 1833 to 1852 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 58, 59).
Dating around 1840, this beauty features the Ovoid Form, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, a Brushed Cobalt Floral, and Cobalt Accents at the Handle Terminals. Stands 13" tall.
Good Condition. Two chips on the bottom edge (1/2", 3/4"). That's it! No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
