Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Jar made by "J. E. Eneix, New Geneva, PA. "
This is the mark of James Eneix who made stoneware in New Geneva for the brief period of 1874-1876 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 165). Eneix stoneware is not commonly seen due to the brief period of manufacture.
This beauty features the Tooled Rim with Groove to Facilitate Tying a Cover Over the Top, and the Company Advertising in a Paisley Shape and Surrounding a Sheaf of Wheat with the Capacity Number Below. Stands 11 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A flat 1/2" chip in the kiln touch at the bottom of the right side and some surface wear including the lettering. No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
