Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "J. & E. Norton, Bennington, VT."
This is the mark of Julius Norton and his cousin, Edward Norton, who worked together in the family pottery from 1850-1859 ( William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 41-44).
This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and an Elaborate Rose Blossom Executed with a Slip Cup in Brilliant Cobalt. Stands 11 3/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. Some staining from use. No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. A drying/firing line under the spout and a salt drip on the front in the making.
