Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Fantastic 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "J. & E. Norton, Bennington, VT."
This is the mark of Julius Norton and his cousin, Edward Norton, who worked together in the family pottery from 1850-1859 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 41-44).
This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Sensational and Exuberant Bouquet of Flowers. Strong and shiny cobalt used by an expert artist. Stands 13 1/2" tall.
Very Good Condition. Some light staining from use. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. A stone ping to the left of the decoration in the making.
