Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "J. & E. Norton, Bennington, VT."

This is the work of Julius Norton and his cousin, Edward Norton who worked in Bennington using this mark from 1850-1859 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp, 42).

This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Classic Floral Decoration in Brilliant Cobalt!  An abundance of leaves, both straight and curvy, support two large "eye" blossoms crowned with a feathery plume.  Thick, dark, and shiny cobalt too!  A wonderful example of this decoration.  Stands 14" tall.

Excellent Condition.  Minor nibbling on the left side of the spout, nibble on the shoulder, and a Y-shaped hairline confined to the underside as shown.  That's it!  No base chips, cracks, stains, or restoration.
