Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this early 2 Gallon Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "J. Heiser, Buffalo, N.Y."
This is the mark of John Heiser who ran his father's pottery along with his brother Henry from 1848-1857 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 75).
This beauty features a Strong Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and an Unusual Fancy Florak with a Leafy Stem, Two large Side Blossons, and a Dotted Fruit at the Top. Stands 12 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. A shallow 1/2" chip on the left side of the spout, a narrow 3/8" chip on the back by the handle, and some staining on the base edge. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
