Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Lovely 2 Gallon Stoneware Cream Pot made and stamped by "J. Norton & Co., Bennington, VT.
This is the mark of Julius Norton, his cousin Edward Norton, and his son, Luman who worked together in the family pottery from 1859-1861 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 41-44).
This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Large Floral Bouquet Decoration in Bright Bennington Cobalt Blue. The bouquet includes a center blossom surrounded by leaves, buds and dots and tied together at the bottom by a bow. The blue is as good as it gets! Measures 11 1/4" tall and 9 1/4" wide across the top.
Very Good Condition. A 3/8" chip inside the rim and some light scattered staining. No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. A stone ping on the rim in the front in the making.
