    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Little Canning Jar made and stamped by "J. Morfoot."  

     

    This is the work of Jacob Morfoot (1828-1866) who potted in Uniontown (Fultonham), Newton Township, Ohio just before the Civil War (James L. Murphy's Checklist of 19th-Century Bluebird Potters and Potteries in Muskingum County, Ohio.  Edited by Jeff Carskadden and Richard Gartley, pp. 293-294). 

     

    This jar comes from the collection of F. Robert Treichler, noted Ohio stoneware historian.

     

    This beauty features a Tooled Rim that would take a very Small Lid, Inscribed Shoulder, and the Fancy Impressed Script Pottery Stamp.  Stands 7" tall.

     

    Exceptional Condition.  As made.  No damage of any kind.
