Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Cream Potmade by "Jas. Hamilton & Co., Greensboro, PA."
James Hamilton ran his pottery in Greensboro from the 1860's to 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).
Dating to the 1870's, this beauty features a Broad Squared Rim, and Two Wide Cobalt Stripes at the Top and One at the Bottom that Frame the Company Advertising and Capacity Number Flanked by Florals. Great contrast between the rich cobalt and the light gray glaze. Measures 8 3/4" tall and 8 1/2" wide across the top.
Good Condition. Exfoliation and some water glass staining inside at the bottom, and a rudimentary fill of a 1 3/4" chip on the rim. No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or stains.
