Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Jug that reads, "From James Hamilton & Co., Greensboro, Pa."  
 
James Hamilton ran his pottery in Greensboro from the 1860's to 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157). 
 
Dating to the 1870's, this beauty features a Large Size, "Bullet" Form, a Bright Cobalt Decoration to include Two Floral Emblems at the Top, the Company Advertising in the Middle, and the Capacity Number Flanked by Leaves at the Bottom.  Stands 16 1/2" tall.    
 
Excellent Condition.  A narrow 1" chip on the bottom fold of the spout on the right side, and some overall light staining from use.  No spout or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.   Scattered kiln touches in the making.
