Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jar made by "Jas. Hamilton & Co., Greensboro, PA."
James Hamilton ran his pottery in Greensboro from the 1860's to 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).
Dating to the 1870's, this beauty features Top to Bottom Decoration. A straight stripe accents the rim, a squiggle stripe defines the shoulder, the company advertising occupies the center with floral and leaf accents, the capacity number flanked by stripes at the bottom and underscored by a straight stripe completes the decoration. Stands 12 1/2" tall
Excellent Condition. A couple small stains. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. A kiln touch in the making.
