Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Gorgeous 3 Gallon Jar made by "Jas. Hamilton & Co., Greensboro, PA."
James Hamilton ran his pottery in Greensboro from the 1860's to 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).
Dating to the 1870's, this beauty features a Finely Tooled Rim with Stripe Accent, Applied Handles with Cobalt Accent, Top and Bottom Wide Stripes, and the Company Advertising in Bold Letters Surrounding a Center Rose and Framed by Leaves at the Top Corner and a Row of Circles Below, with the Capacity Number Flanked by Leaves at the Bottom. Stands 13 3/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. A 1/2" ping and chip on the left handle, a narrow 1" chip under the right handle, and 2" vertical line on the bottom left front that wraps under 4". No rim or base chips, cracks, or restoration.
