Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Jar made by "Jas. Hamilton & Co., Greensboro, PA."
James Hamilton ran his pottery in Greensboro from the 1860's to 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).
Dating to the 1870's, this beauty features a Wide Cobalt Stripe at the Top and Bottom that Frame the Company Advertising Surrounding a Rose. Bold cobalt on a light gray glaze gives this piece a pleasing contrast. Stands 9 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Some waterglass staining inside and traces outside, and two minor nibbles on the bottom of the tooled rim (1/8", 3/16"). No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
