Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Wax Sealer made by "Jas. Hamilton & Co., Greensboro, PA."

James Hamilton ran his pottery in Greensboro from the 1860's to 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).

Dating to the 1870's, this beauty features a Tooled Rim with Groove for Pouring Wax Into to Seal the Jar Using a Tin Cover, and Patriotic Shield Decoration used at the time of the Nation's Centennial in 1876.  Stands 8 1/8" tall.

The stencil is complete and it thick, shiny cobalt.  It is the BEST shield stencil that I have ever seen.

Excellent Condition.  Professional restoration for a small triangular surface chip at the rim (closeup).  Otherwise as made.
