Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "John Burger, Rochester."
This is the mark of John Burger who founded the family's pottery under this stamp and ran it from 1854-1867 (William Ketchum, American Stoneware, p. 74).
This beauty sports a Semi-Squared Rim, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, Freehand Capacity Number "2", and Three Large Leaves Executed with a Slip Cup in Brilliant Cobalt. Intricate and exceptionally nice artwork! Stands 14 1/8" tall.
Excellelnt Condition. A small ping to the left of the decoration (closeup). That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
