    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Jug made and stamped for the merchant "John C. Hopkins, No. 612 Market St., Philadelphia."  Hopkins was a dealer in china and queensware.

     

    It is easily attributed to Richard Remmey of Philadelphia who made stoneware in Philadelphia at the family pottery from the 1860's to the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-9). 

     

    Circa 1870, this beauty features Three Lines of Impressed Advertising Washed in Cobalt.  Stands 11 3/4" tall. 

     

    Excellent Condition.  Some staining from use. That's it!  No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
