Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this marvelous 4 Gallon Stoneware Crock made and stamped by "J. Weaver."
This is the work of John Weaver who made stoneware in Beaver, Pennsylvania from the late 1840's to about 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, p. 113).
Dating around 1860, this beauty features a Thick Squared Rim, Tooled Shoulder, Applied Handles with Cobalt Accents, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and Brushed Cobalt Vining with Tulips across the Front. The vine has one bud and two full blossoms. Rich and shiny cobalt. Measures 13" tall and 11" wide across the top.
Exceptional Condition. A single 1/8" nibble inside the rim. Otherwise, as made!
